I am the instructor of the online Sign Language course. I originally started with an old website that I had built myself, but the process was very difficult and time-consuming. With the help of Maatos’ onboarding service, I was able to successfully publish my online courses in Dutch Sign Language (NGT) and Signed Dutch (NmG).

FAQ

Yes. Hosting for your Maatos site is included. If you have more than 5,000 active monthly users, we will contact you to discuss the available options. This ensures you continue to benefit from a fast environment without limitations.

No, you can start using Maatos at no cost. The first 30 days are completely free to try. The costs for the onboarding service are not included in the subscription, as this is a separate service.

You can fully use Maatos without incurring any additional costs beyond your subscription.

If you use Stripe or Mollie to accept payments, you will pay transaction fees directly to them. The exact rates can be found on their website. If you want to have a custom to add your own (paid) plugins, those costs are your responsibility. Please note that adding custom plugins is only possible with a Custom environment in combination with the Complete plan.

Costs for external platforms and services you choose to integrate with are also not included.

Maatos is based in the Netherlands, if you are registered as a business outside of the Netherlands, we don’t need to charge VAT on  your subscription.

How the VAT works towards your customers, depends on your specific situation. You are the seller of the courses and therefore responsible to know what you have to charge. You may be required to charge and remit VAT. Within Maatos, we’ve made it easy for you to configure your details based on your situation and receive clear, useful overviews.

No, this is not necessary. Maatos can serve as your complete website. In fact, many users choose to fully switch to their Maatos site after the trial period. This way, everything is under one roof and you don’t need multiple subscriptions with different hosting providers.

Yes, you can use your own domain name with any subscription plan. With the Premium and Complete plans, domain setup is included in the price. With the Basic plan, a one-time fee applies. You can use either a subdomain (for example, course.mydomain.com) or a primary domain (for example, mydomain.com).

Yes. You can offer your courses in multiple languages while the interface remains in English. If you want the entire website to be available in, for example, both Dutch and English, that is also possible. Setting up multilingual functionality involves a one-time fee, after which you will move to the Complete plan.

At Maatos, we apply a fair-use policy. In practice, this means we consider it reasonable to have around 200 lessons per course, including 200+ videos. If you publish more lessons, we do not impose a hard limit, but it may be better to upgrade to a higher plan to ensure your website continues to perform optimally and remains fast at all times.

Yes. We use modern technologies to prevent your course materials from being misused or distributed without permission. Videos are hosted on a dedicated video server that is protected against downloading. In addition, only students you grant access to can view your materials.

Yes. Maatos is also suitable for companies and institutions. With custom solutions, it is possible to create a secure, private portal that only your employees can access.

As long as we are not restricted by government rules or international trading rules, you can use Maatos. In principle, the location of your company does not matter for using Maatos. You remain responsible for correctly handling and remitting taxes. However, our integration partners—such as Mollie and Stripe—may have requirements regarding company location or may request additional documentation.

If you do not start a subscription after 30 days, access to your Maatos site will be suspended. Your data will not be deleted immediately; instead, it will be placed in quarantine for two weeks. If you decide to continue, you can add your payment details and resume using your account. Do you need more time to decide or want to continue at a later moment? Please contact us to discuss the options.

Once you cancel your subscription, access to your Maatos site will end. Initially, your environment will be placed in quarantine and will be removed after a certain period of time. This also means your materials will be deleted. Therefore, make sure to back up and store your materials in a separate location well in advance.

Yes. From Maatos’ side, everything is fully GDPR compliant, including the appropriate data processing agreements, which you agree to when creating your site. You remain responsible for your own customers and for managing data security and access. We store data on European servers.
